With a proven track record in regenerative treatments, you’re in safe hands.
Hair loss is a common occurrence, which can potentially impact on a person’s self-esteem or emotional wellbeing. Hence, many people wish to explore regenerative treatment to restore hair volume.
Regenera – also known as Regenera Activa – is a method of hair stimulation that involves implanting healthy cells into the scalp as a method to trigger tissue regeneration.
This helps to repair existing damage that has previously been sustained by hair follicles, with a view to physically reversing the signs of hair loss by boosting natural hair growth.
Regenera is a method of scalp renewal. It uses autologous repair cells, which are taken from a small site elsewhere on the patient’s own body – typically the nape of the neck. These are then transferred to the scalp to encourage the growth of new hair. Regenera is also sometimes referred to as a ‘scalp micrograft’.
The process is minimally invasive and involves three steps: firstly harvesting graft tissue (around 2-3mm) using a small biopsy tool; secondly treating the harvested samples to a filtration process which helps extract concentrated growth factors; and finally reinjection.
We are working in partnership with Tissue and and Cell Technologies for the fat harvesting and storage.
Regenera can yield its first visible changes to the scalp within two weeks of treatment, often requiring just a single session. It is suitable for both men and women, subject to certain criteria. The results are generally long lasting, and can be of benefit to those who are looking for improvement in hair volume and quality, with some patients experiencing improved hair growth for up to two years afterwards.
“With human longevity improving, we can now study how a regenerative approach can impact positively on our quality of life, not just while we are young, but also during our later years.”
“Regenerative approaches and associated procedures remain a developing field that offers great promise for continued progress and innovation.”
At the Cellular & Regeneration practice in Harley Street we fully assess every patient in advance to ensure that any treatment that they may receive is appropriate for their needs. However, regenerative procedures are generally suitable for most people of stable health, subject to their being no underlying complications.
However, whilst Regenera can be effective for thinning hair and androgenetic alopecia, it unfortunately cannot restore follicle damage sustained as a result of conditions such as cancer, autoimmune or systemic diseases, or dermatological infections.
This means that patients who have experienced hair loss as a result of any of the above would not normally be considered as candidates for this treatment.
Treatment normally takes up to 90 minutes to complete, and patients will begin to see improvements within 14 days. Typically, by Month 4, most patients will hope to notice a significant improvement to both hair density and quality.
Because the treatment makes use of the body’s own natural resources, it contains no chemicals or harmful substances that are associated with side effects.
A study of a similar type of cellular treatment published in 2020 concluded: “There were no toxicities or severe adverse effects associated with the use of ADSC-CE for hair growth in humans. Compared with the placebo, ADSC-CE monotherapy for 16 weeks significantly increased both hair count and thickness, and its effect was observable within 8 weeks of application.” [1]
